DLM VIP Group - A way of saying thanks...!

Most folks don't want it.. but I'm offering it.. yes.. a way of saying thanks for all the kind and generous people who have given unselfishly..!

I've worked out in my scattered little mind of mine... that folks who have contributed, articles, photos or input in to putting this untidy rag together.. and also those GREAT peoples who have kindly donated the dollars to get it online and off the ground.. will be added to a VIP GROUP... and gain access to the magazine, one week before anyone else.. yes.. they'll have the option to read and share it with others...!

So the current plan is to release the mag to the VIP group early February, then mid Feb or later, it will be released for everyone else to view..!

For now.. it's my way of saying A BIG THANKS TO YOU ALL..!!!

I've also been busy working away on the rag.. and trying to juggle the logistical requirements for the bike show.. which is now only 73 days away = two and a bit months.. (F#CK)..!

As well as trying to stay in touch with the people I share the house with (Wife & 3 x Kids.. and another one on the way).. and also trying to stay in touch with all the other gear I look after... ie: CP'S Website, Online Store, Day Job, Bikes, Club, other Websites I look after & occasionally some sleep here and there.!

But anyways.. we are currently sitting up around 78 pages.. with still a few submissions to come in.. so were likely to trip over the 80 page mark..!

Last Night I was laying out Chucky's Elecktrickery Article.. enjoying the hell out of it.. a bit of self learning.. plus having a chuckle.. well done bud..! Chucky's lined himself up to do about a dozen or so write ups about all things electric on your bike...! If the first one is an example.. then I reckon you'll love em'..!

The Online Release date is aimed for the 1st of February.. all going well..!!

DLM Fundraiser - Your help still needed..!

Crew a big thank you from me.. we hit the first target in less then two days of me putting it up..! So that's bloody amazing in itself.. but for those wanting to help.. and thinking it's too late.. well.. it's not..!

The Fundraiser still has to run the full course (a further 10 days at the mo')... so you can help.. because apart from the first piece of software, there's still a much large piece to buy, to be able to safely and successfully do initial layout, as what I have now, isn't really designed for it.. and constantly locks up or crashes..!?

So any and all donations will go towards that... which would be friggin' awesome if obtaining that was possible..!

To the crew who have donated so far... what can I say.. but.. your F#cking AWESOME..! It's only been about two days.. of the 14 that I listed it for.. and we already have $1,140 Donated..! YOU ROCK..!!!!

I don't want to sound, nor be a greedy sucker.. but if we do hit the first/original target of $1500.00 in the next couple of days.. it would be f#cking awesome if folks continued to donate,, so we could possibly obtain the second piece of software needed for a more proper/better layout and management of.. or at least have a good starting point towards obtaining it..!

Also, another option is, if we continue to raise funds above and far beyond the original target and have enough, we could possibly look at doing up some T-Shirts and Stickers... for what sponsors would score some free gear of, depending on their contribution.. ie: Up to say $49, you'd score stickers, $50+ you'd score a T-Shirt, $100+ you'd score both... etc, etc... but that's all dependent on the money raised.!?

Once again, a big thanks to those.. who've shown GREAT support.. big or small.. it's been TOTALLY APPRECIATED..!

Fundraiser Campaign - Let's get the Mag online !

Righto Crew, after a fair few folks made contact with me, saying I should setup a donation option, after my previous blog about rasing money to get the magazine online.. I've gone and put myself out there.. for you all to rip the piss out of me..! 

Yes.. I've setup an Indiegogo campaign.. and even created a vimeo vid of my un-tidy self.. to do an intro..!

Sounded like a great idea.. but got to say.. sitting in a tin shed.. in 40+ degree heat.. doing and redoing the vid.. sort of lost a bit of it's fun factor.. after a bit..!  But I did get it done.. and I hope the message I'm trying to send.. makes sense..!?

Oh.. and the wife wanted me to make it clear to all.. it's not her moaning and groaning in the background.. about me being in the shed.. and not working on the trumpy.. or cleaning up the mess.. it's actually our dogs.. Border Collies.. doing.. what ever they do..! :)

Folks... Big or Small.. anything you would be able to donate to this project, will go a LONG way.. to getting it out there.. for all to enjoy..!!!

Dirty Love - Draft Cover - And Release Date Info !

Folks,

A big thanks to Jeremy @ Forever Filthy - www.foreverfilthy.bigcartel.com -  Jeremy has knocked up.. and donated a few logos.. for use on the Magazine.. one of which I've used for the first Issue.. the others I'm saving for future Issues..!

To make it clear.. this mag.. will be a back to basics mag... styled to simplier times.. no fancy confused/clever layouts... or snappy talking here.. we don't even give a shit about grammar or spell check.. who's got the time..!?

A mag to promote and share the artists who build and own these beautiful machines.. and to inspire others to do the same.. plus... sneak in a whole lot of other info about the shit we love.. (ie: Events, Tatts, Tits, Media and other gear, etc, etc) !!

I'll also be doing up another post soon.. to recognise and pay homage to all the great peoples who have contributed their time to this gritty, slapped together concept.. who have helped to get it this far.!

For that.. I'm very grateful..!!!

I'm aiming for a "February Release".. but need to dig deeper (sell something, or live on noodles for few weeks) or try and raise some funds (about one and a half grand).. of money I don't have.. to pay for the application/solution.. to get it online... FREE to all.. yes... you read right... "FREE"...!! 

Fuck it.. let's see how I go with that.. but if we are to continue past Issue #1.. then advertisers.. will be needed..!

Anyone with any good ideas.. on how to raise the funds to go towards getting Issue #1 online, would be truly appreciated..!

I'm sure your asking.. but what about a printed version.. yes folks.. I'd love to head in that direction.. but there's a lot more involved here in Australia.. like all the Government constraints and requirements (ISSN's, Barcodes, National & State Library Submission's, etc,etc).. plus the cost of printing.. so there's more money needed to be raised.. before we can even think of heading in that direction.. but.. it's a good possibility.. if the zine is received well.. by you the people..!!!

I need to kick in some serious work for the bike show.. so will need to 'multitask'.. as I'd like to have the magazine online by the start of February.. but also need to lock in some logistical support and infrastructure for the show.. ASAP.. plus get the posters and flyers out there.. and the tickets for the giveaways.. and then the T-Shirts and stuff..!?

Damn.. the pressure's on..!! Wish this day job didn't get in the way so much..!? Need me a sugar Mumma..!

The Big Picture..!!!

Last Thursday I decided to do up a wall in the office to layout the current/first issue, so as to be able to quickly know where I'm at and how far till I get to the end of this piece of string..!?

As you can see, as of last Thursday there appears to be a lot of blank pages and since then, there has been plenty of work done and it's grown in size by another 2 pages and I reckon there will be more, so currently we are on 50 pages (excluding inside outside covers..!

I'll try and do a snap tonight.. to give you a better idea of where it's at, but I think I'm about half way..!?

Currently there are 3 bikes from Geelong, Victoria - already setup as features in the mag (with some content still to come!?) and I've lined up to shoot Lukes sweet Trumpy - from the Gold Coast, Qld - this Sunday. Plus I snapped Jimmy's XS650 Chop from Redcliffe, Qld - last Sunday (photo above of me loaded up and ready to head out to the shoot, with grey/dark sky's threatening to smash me) and I've also set that up in the layout - plus fingers crossed, that Allan's Ironhead Sporty from Sydney, NSW will be back to a happy place for him after a car pulled out in front of him just before Xmas, causing him to lay it down.

I'm also chasing a killer Evo Sporty up the hill - Toowoomba, Qld - of Daz's, the mod's he's done to this bike, need to be seen in the flesh, to appreciate the chopper goodness..!

I might also squeeze in the 'going no-where' Trumpy build of mine - '48 5T. Plus maybe do a quick feature of my Dad's old Flathead Servicar (Ex LAPD)..!?

I'd also love to feature plenty more bikes 'from all over Australia'.. so send me an email, if you have.. or know of one that would be a perfect fit for this gritty, grimey, but hand built mag.!! I'd appreciate it..!

Hope everyone had a great Xmas break and big New Year, and now let's make 2013 a big year for Vintage Bikes - No matter what-cha ride - Just as long as you do ! Although, I do love grimey old 60/70s styled choppers.. LOL...
